Prototype – Don Diablo & CID

Step aside obesity, there’s a more rampant disease plaguing modern America – office banter. What better way to breakup an already mind-numbingly, tedious day than with a worthless discussion of the weather or weekend plans. Fear not, I have the remedy for what ails you – bass – and plenty of it. Prototype is guaranteed to drown out the rest of the world and help you mentally escape – if at least a few precious moments.

“So the kids have lacrosse this weekend… I’m a little worried about the weather. You know Abner can’t be out in the cold for too long.”

“Damn it Phil! Nobody gives a shit about your kids! Get back in your cube!”

The beginning of the track does a great job of foreshadowing the mesmerizing melody that lies ahead – almost teasing you to listen on. Just as you get in the groove (and forget you’re even at the office) the track delivers its infectious little melody. There was really no way for me to escape this track, being the whore that I am for a great melody; I was inevitably going to get hooked (pun intended).

You know, like one of those classy 5th Ave/Upper West Side kind of whores.

Or so people tell me…

I was actually a little torn when I first heard Prototype as a stand alone track because, aside from the medley, it can get a bit repetitive (I can imagine your shock – electronic music get repetitive; who knew?) Even still, when this track is used in an actual mix, it can do some wondrous things. Prototype is an insidious little tune that can mix into just about any other track and still sound fantastic. You won’t even notice the track is playing in the background until you are greeted with that glorious melody.

“So Abner has really sensitive ears, loud music makes him nauseous.”

“For the love of God Phil! Who said you could come out!?!”

Enjoy and let me know what you think!
